HOW TO GET INVOLVED

 

Children, adults, families and businesses can get involved in this exciting business, tourism and educational project

 

in one or a number of ways:

 

 

 

WhaleTrix Club For Kids

 

Join the WhaleTrix Club. To do this,  join us on facebook then e mail us on [email protected]

 

so that we know how to contact you. Collect a complementary WhaleTrix pack by arrangement. The pack includes a

 

membership card, a Route decal, literature on whales, a selection of historical maps and some generic tourism leaflets.

 

The membership card offers discounts at select retailers, services and restaurants.

 

Navy blue caps with an embroidered badge and yellow T – shirts with an imprinted badge are also available for

 

about R100-00 total.

 

 

 

Whale Spotters

 

If you see a whale, a dolphin or any other sea animal (anywhere), sms us what you see, where and when on the hot line

Photo Journalists & Professional Photographers

 

Photo journalists professional photographers are encouraged to forward their pics for display on the web site. There is a fee

 

involved; please refer to Business Membership Benefits and Fee below.

 

 

 

Members

 

There are two categories of membership – individual and corporate. Most individual members have walked trails

 

or have joined a historical hunt or been to a conference. Some are whale spotters. Most corporate members are either

 

located in, next to, opposite or close to a historical attraction. Some are excellent whale viewing platforms such as

 

accommodation establishments and restaurants.

 

 

 

1. Individual Member Benefits

 

1.1. Access to an information service for visitors, locals/members, businesses and organisations. This is supplemented by

 

a referrals and bookings service to save you time.

 

 

 

1.2. Access to information, opportunities, developments, activities and who is new etc via occasional Newsletters, the

 

Whale Sightings Log and the Whale Sightings Map.

 

 

 

1.3. Discounts, special offers and other benefits at select member businesses on the coastal strip between Strandfontein

 

and Cape Point (members will be advised).

 

 

 

1.4. Discounts at walks and events as per the annual year programme.

 

 

 

1.5. An invitation to the annual Whale Spotter’s Breakfast (part - sponsored).

 

 

 

1.6. Historical Maps – a black/white copy of any three trail maps every 12 months at no cost.

 

 

 

1.7. Route decal (once designed).

 

Membership Fee: R40-00 per adult for 12 months. Second and subsequent members R15-00. Children aged 5–12: R20-00.

 

 

 

2. Business Member Benefits

 

The entire initiative and its components such as the web site, information point, trails and events are offered as a

 

platform/channel/solution to reach customers (local, regional, national and global), specifically in Winter when the web site

 

experiences growth through interest in whale watching. Benefits include:

 

2.1. Access to an information service for visitors, locals/members, businesses and organisations. This is supplemented by

Note that the web site grows in Winter (which is its competitive advantage).

 

 

 

2.3.2. A listing on the web site’s “who is who” and reference to the historical attraction in your immediate area.

 

 

 

2.3.3. If a restaurant, an additional listing on the menu page.

 

 

 

2.3.4. If an accommodation establishment, an additional listing on the accommodation/where to stay page.

 

 

 

2.3.5. If a health and wellness business, an additional listing on the wellness index.

 

 

 

2.3.6. Display of one DL size leaflet on the gondola at the information point Information Junction.

 

 

 

2.3.7. Distribution of leaflets at trails, ambles and events.

 

 

 

2.3.8. Route decal (once designed).

 

 

 

2.3.9. A retail listing in one of the four Amble leaflets (where feasible).

 

 

 

2.3.10. Indirect access to the project’s mailing list which includes tourist guides, whale spotters, trail walkers, businesses

 

and various partners.

 

 

 

2.3.11. Discounts, special offers and other benefits at select member businesses on the coastal strip between Strandfontein

Membership Fee: Subs range from R500-00 for 12 months for national brands to R50-00 for traders.

 

Note: The membership fee excludes extras such as links to web sites and adverts which are invoiced separately.
